The Wiltern Concerts

The Wiltern Theatre, merged with the Pellissier Building and collectively named as the Pellissier Building and Wiltern Theatre, is 12-storey landmark in Los Angeles. Both adjoining buildings are also referred to as the Wiltern Center. The building is being used as an office space while the Wiltern Theatre is being used to recreational shows hosted every day. This article will be talking about the history and pretty much everything anyone would like to know about Wiltern Theatre. Let's get right to it.

It is such a notable landmark in Los Angeles on Wilshire Boulevard in the central section of Los Angeles.  One can’t miss it as it drives or walks by. The Wiltern is one of many hot concert and live music venues in LA.  You also have the Ace Hotel in DTLA and The Novo concerts at LA Live.  There is the Hollywood Bowl of course and the Walt Disney Concert Hall.  Out in Hollywood don't miss out on Troubadour and concerts at The Roxy.

The first thing worth mentioning is obviously the history behind the renowned building. The building was constructed in 1931, designed by architect Stiles O. Clements from Morgan, Walls and Clements which was the city's oldest and most well-reputed architectural firm at the time. The Wiltern was meant to be a vaudeville theatre and opened as a part of the Warner Bros. chain, but it closed a year later to be reopened during the mid-1930s. The art deco styled building can currently hold 1,850 people at one time.

The venue hasn't had a good time by any means. It has faced a change of leadership countless times over the past century and has almost come close to being on the wrong side of a wrecking ball twice. But, now that the building is under the management of Live Nation, it is being used for things it actually meant for, entertainment.

The Wiltern mostly hosts concerts and musical performances from a variety of different genres. Pop, rock, jazz, blues, metal, hard rock, you name it – The Wiltern has it.

The schedule remains quite packed at The Wiltern as the venue is clearly having plenty of success with sold out crowds.  There are usually 4-6 shows per week of some sort.  The Fab Faux, Roy Orbison, Alkaline Trio, Hozier for three shows, Bullet For My Valentine, John Crist, Sting & Shaggy, Prettymuch, Thievery Corporation, Poppy, Jessie J, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, The Record Company, 98 Degrees, Van Morrison, and The Great Russian Nutcracker are merely some of the amazing acts coming to The Wiltern.

The Wiltern is located at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue in Koreatown. The exact location is 3780 Wilshire Boulevard. You can use the Metro Purple Line and ride straight to the Wiltern. The Metro stops right across the street from the venue and a quick hop will take you right to your destination.

As for the parking, the best option is Ralph's parking structure located south and east of the theatre on Oxford Street. The venue has its own parking space and those parking passes are available at  You can also look around the neighborhood and find street side parking if you get a little bit lucky.

Restaurants Near the Wiltern

There are a variety of places you could visit after a great show at the Wiltern. If you're a meat kind of guy, there's M Grill right next door making some of the best steaks in town. They have a salad bar with hot and cold items too. In the mood for something foreign? There's Kashira Restaurant offering Japanese cuisine like sushi rolls, ramen and other exotic dishes. The place is really great and definitely recommended to people that often indulge into the Japanese palette. If you're just a burger and fries type of person, Beer Belly has your back. With the traditional pub feel paired with duck-fat fries and grilled bacon, Beer Belly offers sophistication through simplicity.

There is also Monty’s Good Burger just a short walk up Western Avenue.  It is one of those restaurants near The Wiltern where you can’t go wrong.  Always a good burger on the grill.  Koreatown Pizza Co. is a few steps away on Wilshire Blvd.  Young-Dong Hite Rounge is very close by.  Gong Cha is available and Denny’s provides an option for a step above fast food where you can sit down and relax.  Just above 6th Street there are some more culturally diverse options in this thriving section of Los Angeles.  Tengoku Ramen bar, Bumsan Organic Milk Bar, and Ubatuba Acai Koreatown are all located on the corner of 6th Street and Western Ave.
